The getting started checklist
The first time you open a new account, KolleK greets you with a short checklist instead of an empty dashboard. It points you at the handful of things that make everything afterwards easier. This page explains what it is for and how it behaves.
What the checklist is
It is a friendly starting map, not a set of rules. It suggests five things worth doing when a collection is brand new:
- Configure collection types. Decide what you track and what details each kind of thing should record. Comics, vinyl, LEGO, whatever it is.
- Set up tags. Create a few flexible labels you can use to slice across your items later, such as "Signed" or "First Issue".
- Add other members. Invite people to view or manage the account alongside you, if you are not the only one using it.
- Add locations. Describe where things live: shelves, boxes, rooms.
- Add your first collection. The fun part. Start cataloguing.
You do not have to do them in this order, and you do not have to do all of them. Many collectors go straight to creating a collection and come back to the rest later. Treat the list as a suggestion.
It ticks itself off
There is no "mark as done" button. Each step completes on its own once you have actually done the thing. Add a location, and the locations step is checked. Create a collection, and that step is checked.
The ready made types and locations that came with your account do not count towards the checklist. A step is marked done only once you create or change something yourself, so the checklist reflects your setup rather than the defaults you started with.
It belongs to the whole account
The checklist is shared across the account, not private to you. Everyone who opens the account sees the same progress. As soon as one member creates the first collection, that step shows as done for everyone.
Hiding it
Once you are up and running, you can put the checklist away.
Only an owner can hide it, because it is an account wide screen. If you are an owner, you will see the option to hide it. Doing so tucks it away for everyone in the account.
You have not lost it. An owner can bring the checklist back at any time from account settings. And a brand new account with no collections yet will keep showing it until there is something to catalogue.
