What is KolleK
KolleK is a home for everything you collect. Comics, vinyl records, coins, watches, wine, books, trading cards, video games, or the oddly specific thing only you love. If you can own it, you can catalogue it here.
The problem it solves
Most collectors end up spread across a spreadsheet, a notes app, a few folders of photos, and their own memory. It works until the collection grows. Then you cannot remember what you paid, which shelf a piece is on, whether one is currently loaned to a friend, or what the whole thing is worth.
KolleK replaces all of that with one focused tool built for collections.
How it is organized
You only need one idea to get started. Everything in KolleK nests in four levels:
- An account is your workspace. Everything you create lives inside it.
- A collection is a named group, such as "My Comics" or "Wine Cellar".
- An item is a kind of thing, such as "Amazing Spider-Man #1".
- A copy is one physical thing you actually own.
The distinction between an item and a copy is what makes KolleK different from a plain list. If you own three copies of the same comic, that is one item with three copies, and each copy has its own condition, storage location, value, and history. You will meet this idea properly once you start cataloguing, so do not worry about it yet.
The difference between an item and a copy is the one idea worth carrying forward, and you will use it constantly.
Who it is for
KolleK works for a single collector keeping a private catalogue, and for a group sharing one. You can invite other people into your account and decide whether each can view, edit, or manage it. A household, a club, or a small business can all work from the same catalogue.
What makes it different
It is private. Your account is your own workspace, and sensitive details are encrypted where they are stored. Nobody browses your collection unless you choose to share it.
It is yours to run. KolleK is open source and free to host yourself. Your catalogue lives on infrastructure you control, and you can move it or back it up whenever you want.
It tracks the whole story, not just a list. For each copy you own, you can record what you paid, what it is worth over time, where it is stored, who you lent it to, the care it has had, and where it came from.
